Hi all.
I had this question in my mind for long time so i decided to post it.
Do you know if there are available any recordings of Helen Keller talking?
Since she died in 1968 i think recordings were possible by then so i asume there must be a recording of her somewhere.
I heard recordings from the 20s in the past so i don't think it is impossible that a recording exists.
I would be very interested to hear how she sounded like and if there is a recording i would be very glad.
Thanks in advance

A good friend of mine heard her speak at her school when she was little and she said she sounded old. She also said she had a hard time with inflection and I'm assuming she spoke like a hearing impaired person who doesn't hear well but yet learns to speak. I'm sure there's gotta be something somewhere.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
This description that your friend made is very interesting.
Actually now thinking about it i forgot that we had a board for deaf and blind here. I think i will report it to the cls so they can move it where it belongs.
Sorry about this.

Hello,
There are recordings of her voice--at least is referenced on the Library of Congress site. It is also said on that site however that her speech on the talking book program had to be "translated"--in quotes--because her words were so indecernible. I think I'm wording that right. In any case, said speech was made in 1952.
HTH,
Shanda
